| About Me | After graduating from Transylvania University, Lexington, Kentucky, in 1977, I moved to Houston, Texas where I lived for 24 years. I took early retirement from the oil and gas business in 1993, and attended graduate school at University of Houston where I completed my masters’ degree in osteology / archaeology. While at university I worked as a columnist for the Houston Press and a news writer for Houston’s CBS affiliate, authored a travel guide to Houston, and edited two Zagat restaurant guides. Beginning in 1995 I worked as an archaeologist on Mayan ruin sites in Belize and Honduras, Central America, for 10 years, living in Corozal, Belize full-time for the last 4 years of my research projects. In 2005 I returned to the United States and now live in Sandia Park, New Mexico (in the mountains between Albuquerque and Santa Fe) with my second husband, Mark Ramirez, who teaches high school, and our four dogs and three cats.
