Cathie died September 4, 2009 at her home in Columbia, Missouri of Multiple Myeloma. She is survived by her husband, Steve Van Matre, their son Brennan, his wife Amanda and their two sons; and daughter Brielle, her husband Chris Weinreich and their two sons, all of Columbia, MO; and her sister Linda Heck, brother-in-law Gordon, and their sons of Hermann. Cathie was dedicated to making a difference for children and families, she began as a Juvenile Officer and served as Chief Juvenike Officer and Director of Juvenile Court Services until her 2002 retirement. She held numerous offices in the Missouri Juvenike Justice Association and was an active member of First Christian Church in Mexico. She enjoyed traveling with her family, gardening, and was devoted to her family.
