About Me April 2020 update. Well I have been retired eight years now and am fully engaged in trying to be an artist. I have been enrolled at the Glassell School of Art since 2014, though The Coronavirus has shut down this semester. I feel like I have enough art education at this point to carry me for a while anyway. Continuing education is a necessary part of being an artist I believe, though there are many ways to undertake that effort. At some point Artists have to decide who they are as artists. That is sort of where I am in the process. I believe that starting this endeavor 50 years earlier would have given me time necessary to sort it out. Right now I am mostly doing watercolor painting. I also work in oils, end undertake the occasional mono print. I have discontinued my figure work at this point and am trying to a transition to a more impressionistic style. Not so easy. My family is doing well and I now have two granddaughters in college. One at Florida State in health sciences and one at Texas A&M in biomedical engineering. My only grandson, (Eric) will start at Texas A&M in the fall in the school of business (he thinks). I have two other granddaughters who are in primary school and also doing quite well. I often think of PHS and the class of 1963. It was a wonderful time in my life and though I was a very poor student at that time, it laid the ground work for my future academic success and beyond. I hope all of my classmates are well and enjoying our sunset years. April 2012 update. I plan to retire in June of this year. Difficult decision, but believe I am finally ready. -- I spent four years in the US Navy where I did two and a half tours of Viet Nam. I was a 1973 graduate (Cum Laude) from WVU. While managing my own business I worked in eighteen different countries, and visited 45 countries. I have two children and three grandchildren, and am hoping for more of the latter. I currently reside in Spring Texas (Houston suburb) and work for a major energy company. I retired in 2012 and promptly returned to school to take a few art classes. Two years later I was accepted into the Glassel school of art and am still attending. I am currently working in waterco...(read more)
