On January 29, 1977 she married Steven Gara in Luther Valley Church. Dorothy was employed at the Rock County Health Care Center. She, her husband and their son Adam all died in a fire. She was survived by her mother; her father; step-mother; a brother; three half-brothers; two sisters; two half-sisters and her grandparents
