Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Johnny Cureton, Sr., and Mary Payton Cureton. He was a member of New Golden Grove Methodist Church in Piedmont, SC. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Johnny J. Cureton, Jr., his daughter's mother, Eddie Mae Richardson, and his stepmother, Etta Mae Cureton.
