(July 13, 1940 - August 28, 2017 )
Marion, NC – Janice Elizabeth Williams Hammond,
77, wife of the late John Gary Hammond, went home
to be with the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2017, after
a long battle with lung disease.
Born in Williamston, SC, she was a daughter of the late
Otto and Ruth Vermillion Williams. She retired from
Mt. Vernon Mills after 43 years of service, and she
was a Baptist.
She is survived by daughter, Diane Gunter of Marion,
NC; son, Toby Hammond (Dorothy) of Blythewood, SC;
sister, Judy Frasier of Williamston, SC; grandchildren,
Gary McAlhaney, Janice Bell, Michelle, Michael and
Marc Taylor, and Chassidy Whitt; twelve great-
grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sons, Robbie and Tony Hammond;
brothers, Kent and Butch Williams.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Wednesday,
August 30, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday,
August 31, in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at
Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you
to the doctors and nurses of the ICU unit of Mission
Hospital-St. Joseph Campus in Asheville, NC for the
wonderful care you gave our family.
