| About Me | Adopted at 9 months (in orphanages before), found birth parents in 2016 (finally! - but both deceased). Graduated AVJC 1965. EMT in Long Beach ambulances 3 yrs. Combat Medic, Vietnam, 1969. Cal. State Long Beach, B.A. 1970, Speech-Language Pathology. Married Carol Spears 1970 (PHS '63; RN 45 yrs.). M.A. 1971, Speech-Language Pathology. 3 yrs. working with brain damaged adolescents, adult stutterers at UCLA, and doing human brain autopsies with neuropathologist. Earned Ph.D. in 1976, University of Iowa. Specialty in neurological disorders (strokes, TBIs). University professor 35 yrs. - 3 yrs. West Virginia University, 32 yrs. University of the Pacific (UOP), Stockton, CA. Worked in acute, subacute, and convalescent hospitals during many summers. Retired from UOP in 2012, honored with Professor Emeritus title. Authored or coauthored 6 textbooks and 4 therapy materials. Worked as an expert witness in medical-legal cases since 1985 (45 cases around US thus far). Semi-retired: continuing private practice (begun 1980), textbook writing, and expert witness work. Been happy and healthy all my life.
