About	Mark Eric Coey lived his life on his own terms. A champion for his friends and family, he remained faithful and strong despite facing his own challenges. His propensity for kindness and generosity will live on in the acts of care he performed for those he loved. Mark passed away on June 16, 2024 in his home after a long battle with a complicated illness. Mark worked as a corrections officer for twenty-three years where he served as a mentor and leader among his fellow officers. A bold and strong-willed man, Mark was independent and sometimes irreverent, but always sought out ways to strengthen those around him. His servant’s heart led him to cook and bake for his friends and family; he enjoyed creating nourishing and delicious meals for those he loved and sharing in the joy of dining with them. He especially loved making special cheesecakes for his treasured granddaughter. Mark was intrepid, never foregoing an opportunity to retreat to the wilderness where he found respite in the quiet of the woods and water. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisher, and his sense of adventure will carry on in memories of his exploits. He attended Grace Church where he became close to many members of the congregation. Mark loved his church family and enjoyed worshipping with them. In his selflessness, Mark devoted much of his time and all of his heart to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Coey; his son Seth (Brittany) Coey, and daughter Alicia Powell; his siblings Alan (Jennifer) Bowman, Cindy Bowman, Penny (Howard) Hogan, Todd (Candy) Coey, Ed (Joann) Hursey, Jim (Cathy) Shrader, Ann (Randy) Smith, and Becky (Jerry) Shuler; grandchildren Aubrie, Connor, Sloan, Gabriel, and Charlotte; and well-spoiled bulldogs Theo, AKA “Shuggybear” and Molly. Mark was preceded in death by parents Charles and Nina (Mathews) Coey and beloved friend Alonzo “Big Al” Roberts.
