Graduation Year Class of 1985

About Tara Ranchod-Reynolds, 56, passed away on Sunday, March 19th, following a long battle with lung cancer. She died at home in the loving care of family and her devoted hospice team. Tara was a kind and gentle soul who will be dearly missed and remembered by the many people whose lives she touched. Throughout her long illness and into her final days, Tara provided information and support to many terminal cancer patients and their families. A life-long talented artist, she continued painting for loved ones until she passed. Her final project, Wings of Love Oracle cards, included her beautiful butterfly paintings along with information for patients who have a terminal diagnosis and their loved ones.
Tara was born in Mansfield, Ohio on January 27, 1967. She graduated from Ontario High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in advertising at Kent State University. She worked as a graphic designer and copywriter at several Akron area advertising agencies before establishing a freelance career from 2003 to 2016. Tara returned to school in 2016 and became an STNA, (State Tested Nursing Assistant), working with dementia patients from 2016 to 2018. She was a proud member of the Dragon Dream Team, Ohio's first all breast cancer survivor Dragon boat team since 2012. She volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Akron and Stewart's Caring Place, a cancer wellness center. From 2012 to 2015 Tara founded and operated Green for Pink, a non-profit that provided fresh, local produce to breast cancer patients and their families.
Tara's greatest joy came from her roles as wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Reynolds, and her daughter, Tess Reynolds. She is also survived by her "honorary" German daughter Susanne Klafki, who lives with her husband Andreas and two children (Till and Romy) in Germany. Tara is also survived by her sister, Sita Ranchod-Nilsson (and her husband, Ulf Nilsson, who live in Atlanta), her brother, Arun Ranchod (and his wife, Lorraine Ranchod, who live in Shaker Heights), nieces Maya Ranchod and Annika Nilsson, and nephews Jairaj Ranchod and Sven-Erik Nilsson.
Tara was preceded in death by her parents Nagin Ranchod and Charlotte M. Ranchod (née Thiemann).
