Entered Army from the National Guard on 17th birthday 6/6/1949. Left Onsted High School at that time. Completed school through GED was isssued diploma from OHS for class of 1952. Served 2 tours in Korean War 1950 - 1953. Vietnam 1969-1970. Also served in Germany 1955-1958, Korea (peacetime) Ft. Riley, KS, Ft. Benning, GA, Ft.Lewis WA, CSM Ft. McClellan, AL. Awarded Silver Star, Bronze Star,Purple Heart (2), Meritorious Service Meda (2) Comendation medals (5) Combat Infantry Badge,, Aircraft Crewman's Badge and numerous other citations and awards. Retired 1972. Taught ROTC Hill High School, Winston-Salem NC 5 Years

1LT Todd Griffith is currently the Company Commander of the 983rd Military Police Company at Fort Lewis, Washington. He has served in Iraq. He first entered into service after graduation. Then after a break in service, he accepted a direct commission to become an officer.

Our Onsted High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done!
