About	Lloyd J. Pitts Jr. Obituary Akwesasne: Lloyd J. Pitts Jr., 89, passed away at his residence on May 12, 2026. Lloyd was born on August 26, 1936 in Norfolk, NY, the son of the late Lloyd and Evelyn Pitts. He attended and graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School and later served in the United States Army. Lloyd married Shirley Thompson on May 18, 1970 at St. Raymond’s Church in Raymondville. Lloyd worked at General Motors in Massena as a Die Welder and later retired in 1989 after 30 years. He was a life member of the Hogansburg American Legion and Massena Amvets. Lloyd enjoyed riding motorcycles and boating. He also bowled, played shuffle board and horse shoes. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; his children, Doris Thomas of Akwesasne, Floyd (Bertha) Thomas of Massena, Gail Thomas of Akwesasne, Lorrie (Kennedy) Garrow of Akwesasne, Nora (Gabe) Cook of Akwesasne and Shannon (Curry) Rice; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Thomas of Massena and Elaine (Harold) Swinyer of Tupper Lake; two brothers, Ronald (Terri) Pitts of Lisbon and Gordon Pitts of PA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Scott Pitts and Bruce Thomas; a daughter, Lorna Thomas; two brothers, James and Daniel Pitts and a sister, Barbara Vaquaz. Friends and family are invited to call at the family home, 71 Tony Barnes Road, Hogansburg on Monday, May 18, 2026 starting at 2:00 pm until time of service on Wednesday, 1:00 pm at the family home. Burial will follow in Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk.
