achel Ann Powell, age 79 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022. She was born on July 2, 1942, in Grafton, WV, daughter of the late James Robert Louden and Martha Lucille Louden. In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her younger brother, James Louden. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Bruce Edward Powell; her children: Shawn Powell (Laurel) of Rockville, MD, Tina Powell of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Kevin Powell (Christy) of Rockville, MD; her grandchildren: Megan Brannan (Justin), Shannon Powell, Brandon Powell, Ryan Powell (Tori), Thomas Powell, Natalie Powell; her great-granddaughter, Daisy Powell and her sister, Nancy Coffman of Annapolis, MD.
Rachel was a wonderful wife and homemaker. Her greatest joy in life was raising her three children. Rachel was a talented seamstress, and her hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening, taking Zumba classes and relaxing on the beach. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Rachel was an active member of The Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She enjoyed monthly gatherings with her quilting ladies and was also a charter member of The Ocean Waves Quilt Guild. Her devotion to her family, however, took precedence above all. The time spent with those she held dear was what she most cherished, especially her six grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Loved by many, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
