About | Craig Zimmerman passed away on Wednesday February 19, 2025, at his home in Spencerville, Maryland. He leaves his wife of 45 years Leigh, and his two sons Ryan (Alisa) Zimmerman and Kevin (Kristen) Zimmerman as well as his mother Janet Foley, stepmother Crystal Zimmerman and siblings Debra (Jim) Dillon, Ron Zimmerman, Susan (Bob) Ritter, Judy Haslup, Joanne (Larry) Miller and Gary (Laurie) Zimmerman. Also survived by five grandchildren Abigail, Grace, Caden, Kylie and Cole as well as family and many friends. Craig was born in 1956 in Washington DC. He grew up in Silver Spring and graduated from Northwood High School in 1974. As soon as he was old enough to work, he started with the family construction business on the job site. He spent his entire 50-year career working with Zimmerman and Sons alongside his family. The last twenty years of that was as President. He met the love of his life Leigh in 1977 when working on an addition for his future in laws. In their years together they enjoyed traveling, their favorite place to spend time was Sonoma, California. He also loved to ballroom dance and spend time with his children and grandchildren whether it be on the side of a soccer field, basketball court, lacrosse field, gymnastics meet or on vacation together. Craig was an avid sports fan who loved watching his Washington Redskins and Villanova basketball. Craig also loved working with his tools, a love that he picked up from his father who predeceased him in 2004. He passed along that love to his two boys as he worked on countless projects together. Craig was a builder not just of structures, but of a home filled with love, warmth, and memories. He took great pride in constructing not one, but two homes with his own hands, pouring his heart and soul into every brick, beam, and nail. These homes weren’t just buildings; they were a reflection of his dedication, his hard work, and his love for his family. They stand as a testament to his determination and his ability to create something lasting. Throughout his entire life he preached the value of hard work to achieve your goals, which will be one of his many legacies.
