About Me | Commander Froderman was born and raised in Brazil, IN. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1990, receiving a Direct Commission into the Navy Reserve in April 1993. CDR Froderman enlisted in the Naval Reserve in February 1985 serving as a Cryptologic Technician, and Cryptology Officer, until MAY 2000. During this period of reserve service CDR Froderman worked as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with the National Park Service. In May of 2000 CDR Froderman was recalled to active duty for service at COMNAVSECGRU in the Information Operations (IO) Cell. While in the CNSG IO Cell CDR Froderman was the Computer Network Operations Action Officer (AO) staffing a Joint Concept of Operations, laying the groundwork for a new mission area, while coordinating manning and material requirements. CDR Froderman then became the Psychological Operations (PSYOP) AO, advancing relationships with the Joint arena, cultivating relationships with US Army SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND, representing Navy PSYOP. CDR Froderman reported to the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) December 2002 where he served as the Ship’s Cryptology Officer and IO Coordinator. CDR Froderman consolidated oversight of the ship’s IO capabilities creating a single point of contact for IO and SIGINT. While assigned to the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CDR Froderman qualified Officer of the Deck (Underway). CDR Froderman was next assigned to OPNAV N20 where, as the Surface SIGINT AO, he worked on platforms such as Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Future Combatants (DDX/CGX), and CVN-21. During this tour he completed an Individual Augmentation to Afghanistan; executing the responsibilities of an US Air Force O6 billet as the Director of Intelligence at the Combined Security and Transition Command – Afghanistan. Following his tour at OPNAV CDR Froderman reported to Commander, Carrier Strike Group Two for duty as the Deputy Information Warfare Commander / N39. During his assignment to CCSG2 CDR Froderman expanded integration of IO across strike group operations. His leadership exponentially increased tactically relevant electronic support across the Strike Group as well as integration of IO in all Strike Group operations. As lead planner he ensured success, accomplishing national objectives, during a critical Head of State visit by Hamid Karzai, President, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. CDR Froderman then served as the Executive Officer/Deputy Commander of the Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group/Task Force 1090. In this capacity he managed the discovery and employment of agile research, development and acquisition to create, test, and deliver innovative cyberspace capabilities and tactics to the Fleet enabling exploitation of adversary vulnerabilities. CDR Froderman’s assignment to Navy Information Operations Command – Maryland, for duty at the National Security Agency (NSA), Fort George G. Meade, MD, found him leveraging his leadership and operational experience as he stood up NIOC MD’s Directorate of Access and Capabilities. His efforts, guiding the Command’s support to NSA in the development, sustainment and employment of cyber, information assurance, and signals intelligence collection capabilities laid the foundation for the effort poised to be stood up as an independent O5 Command, CWA-67, in the Spring of 2018. His Directorate, and this future command, reinforced information technology infrastructure and provided subject matter expertise in Cyberspace Operations, Electronic Warfare, Information Operations, and Special Technical Operations to inform special operations, kinetic and non-kinetic operational planning initiatives. Simultaneously he functioned as the Deputy Chief for Military Planning at the NSA’s office of Combined Military Planning and Access Strategies, leading an office developing access strategies satisfying warfighter and national intelligence requirements while informing Combatant Command crisis and deliberate planning course of action development to minimize sensitive military operations impact on NSA equities. Most recently he was tasked with standing up Cyber Security Operation’s Pursuit Operations Division. Working under the On-Net Pursuit Branch he led the execution of remote and deployed counter cyber operations to support national security systems and critical US Government networks. CDR Froderman has been bestowed a Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, DAWIA Level 2 certifications in both Systems Engineering and Program Management, and membership in the Acquisition Corps.
