Eduardo Souza
Class of 1994
Good Morning Bruins,
For more than a hundred times I heard this call from August,1993 to June, 1994.
I was an exchange student from Brazil who played Soccer on the Northrop High School varsity team. It was sincerily, one of the best years of my life. I studied there during the year right before the World Soccer Cup 1994, on the United States of America.
Besides practing sports every day (when not soccer, voleyball or body building), I studied English, Psycology, Math, History and Brodcast Journalism 1 and 2. Mrs. Helmuth was my teacher. I learned how to handle a VHS camera, how to edit on S-VHS, and some theory about how T.V., Cinema and Personal Computers would change our life on the followings years. On 1995, when I was 18, I made a video for a Festival on my State called "Butterflies- the video" that won a prize from the judges and another from the public, who voted on the Movie Theater.
I´d like to thanks to all friends I made on Fort Wayne Communite Schools, because I became a Movie Director very respected on my State of Bahia, even so young. The very curious on this story is that the main actor of my first film, who was my friend like Paco and Scott, is nowadays, one of the best of the World. He calls Wagner Moura and won the Golden Bear on the beggining of 2008 on Germany, as the actor of a film very hard to do. There are others films on his carreer that I like much better, but talked on portuguese, no prizes.
I never wanted to be famous, that´s why I´m a Director and Writer, but it is a pleasure tell you this story. "I believed on his dream to be an actor, and he believed on my dream to be a director" Eduardo Souza
I still have my Certificated of Attendance signed by Mr. Timon Kendall and the yearbook where you can check all this information above. P.S.: I took a look on this wall of fame to look for my friend Fabio Souza. He is the one who should be there. The X-Man Tennis Player who was the Indiana State Champion on the 1993 representing Northrop High School on Indianapolis. I was there.
