| About Me | After high school, I worked with CA Division of Forestry for 2 fire seasons. I hitchhiked to NY in 1972 and purchased a ticket to Europe for $168. It was a round trip ticket and good for 1 year. I spent the next 11 months hitchhiking in Western Europe and Morocco. The $600 I brought with me, lasted six months. When it ran out of money, I found a job in Hidelberg, Germany, working for Italians at Pizzeria San Remo, serving mostly Americans from the Army base close by. I also did odd and end jobs in London where I lived for number of months before retuning to N.Y. then hitchhiking home in the winter of '72 to arrive Christmas Eve. I lived in Santa Cruz for 10 1/2 yrs, taught pre-school and was very involved in community organizing. Lived in L.A. for 22 yrs. I loved it. Finally went to college and received my B.A. Special Major at CSULB, the same year as our 20th high school reunion. I went on to UCLA, where I earned an M.A.Arch.History. Worked and ran restaurants in LA and Vegas for 17 yrs. Last thing I did in LA before moving back to Salinas to help my aging mom, was to open and live in my own Antique Store. That was a blast! I have been back in Salinas for 15 yrs now - time flies by - helping my mom who will be 96 yrs old July1, 2022. I'm not rich, I have my health for the most part, loving family and friends, my dear sweet 4 legged friends -16 yr old dog and 2 yr old cat - I garden, cook, listen to music, have too many projects in the garage to work on (fixing up old furniture, etc), love to eat, always open to learning new things, meeting new people, and l...(read more) |
