| About Me | Born in 1989, Ronald Robbins resigned from his 9-5 job at a ripe age of 19 to become a modern day digital nomad. Traveling non-stop around the world since the founding day of the Active Planet Travels blog in June of 2011, he has found most of his professional interests in being a travel blogger, television host & bizarre food enthusiast. With a deep passion for exploring the world around him, he began his travels when he first fell in love with a traveler while wrestling alligators in Florida: “I fell victim to young love. The next thing I knew I was packing my bags and on my way to Germany when I received a text message while sitting at the airport saying not to come. Hahaha So, with no more than $30 dollars to my name and an open ended plane ticket, I decided instead of turning back to my dead-end job, why stop now. Just keep moving forward. Turns out, this was the best decision I could’ve ever made!” After traveling to various countries all over the world, with little money & absolutely no experience backpacking, he quickly found a way to master the art of becoming a thrifty traveler. Countries such as China, Vietnam, India, Panama, Puerto Rico and many more became his newfound stomping grounds where he took all of the knowledge gained while on the road and condensed it into one blog: Active Planet Travels. Discovering both the hidden gems within mainstream cities as well as venturing far off-the-beaten-path, he thoroughly enjoys seeing what the world has to offer. With a motto that coincides with his personality, he believes that living in the moment is key in everything you do. Try new cuisine, pick up an invitation, take plenty of pictures & always write down notes in a journal. Life is too short to not enjoy the moment!” With his upcoming eBook “Get Up, Get Set & Travel: My Guide to life on the Road” coming out in the Fall of 2014, he’s putting everything he learned into one quick and easy guide to help further inspire others to follow their dreams of traveling the world. Today, Ron is preparing for the biggest journey he has ever undertaken: voyaging to remote islands, intermingling with locals and discovering those hidden secrets as he starts a new life Sailing the Caribbean -Spring 2015!
