About Me | I believe— nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent. it ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to. that you should never ruin an apology with an excuse. that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you’d better know something. that your family won’t always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren’t related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren’t biological. that it’s hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people’s feelings, and standing up for what you believe. I am not a has-been. I am a will be. that it's taken me a long time to become the person I want to be. we probably wouldn't worry about what people think of us if we could know how seldom they do. that you can keep going long after you can't. that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. that either you control your attitude or it controls you. that money is a lousy way of keeping score. that you should always act like you're wearing an invisible crown. that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated. that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do. that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. Everyone likes somebody who gets to the point quickly. If everyone in the TV show you’re watching is good-looking, it’s not worth watching. Managing one’s wants is the most powerful skill a person can learn. People embellish everything, as a rule. A person who is unafraid to present a candid version of herself to the world is as rare as diamonds. Blame is the favorite pastime of those who dislike responsibility. Everyone you meet is better than you at something. If you aren’t happy single, you won’t be happy in a relationship. Posture and dress change profoundly how you feel about yourself and how others feel about you, like it or not. Everyone thinks they’re an above average driver. Try as we might to be otherwise, we are all hypocrites. Kids will usually understand exactly what you mean if you keep it to one or two short sentences. The secret ingredient is usually butter, in obscene amounts. There are not enough women in positions of power. The world has suffered from this deficit for a long time. Sometimes you have to remove certain people from your life, even if they’re family. There is no point finishing a book you aren’t enjoying. Life is too short for that. Swallow your pride and put it down for good, unfinished. There is no correlation between the price of a brand of batteries and how long they last. One of the best things you can do for your kids is take them on road trips. Wishing things ...(read more) |
