Class of 1957

Ken Barnes has a skeetshooting record filled with many highlights, but he is probably best known as the first shooter in history to break a perfect 400x400 straight in all four guns at one tournament. He accomplished this feat at the 1967 Western Open in El Monte, CA, and is the only person to do so using pump action shotguns. A twelve time member of Sports Afield magazine's AllAmerican skeet team, and twice as Captain, Barnes' record at World shoots include eight individual championships, and is one of only four shooters in history to win each individual gauge and the .410 bore at least once.
Former record holder of the 28 gauge long run of 565 straight and a ten time perfect scorer of 100x100 with the .410, Barnes was also the first amateur to carry a 99.00% all-around average for the year, and again, the only to do so with pump guns. From 1966 to 1969 he won 12 individual California State titles including the All-Around four consecutive years. At the World shoot he has shared victories in every open two-man and five-man team categories including world records in the 20 gauge (498x500) and the 12 gauge (500x500). His percentage of wins for individual shoot-offs at the World shoot is one of the all time best...eight of sixteen.
Ken is a member of the Bob Elias Kern County Sports Hall of Fame, a charter member of the California Skeet Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the National Skeetshooting Hall of Fame in San Antonio TX in 1979.
