Passed away from pancreatic cancer, which had been recently diagnosed. Survived by his wife, Ernestine (Tina); mother, Doris Peavy; his children, Tracy (Tyrone) Riley; Tamara, Tonika, and Leonard III (Shanell) Peavy; and Trenika Steward; his siblings, Suzanne (Irwin) Holmes, Tonya Howe, Sandra and Darrell Peavy; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He had lived in New Orleans for many years--until Hurricane Katrina, when he moved back to Des Moines. He had been a Sheriff in Louisiana, and was in Security at Prairie Meadows. He was also a very well-respected Deacon of his church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
