Rec'd Psychology Degree in 1971 from ISU; Masters Degree in Environmental Health from Univ. of Minnesota in 1974; and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Drake Univ. in 1977. He married Barbara Denny in 1971 and they has one son, Nathan Thomas Gunson in 1990. In 2004, he married Kandi Reindl, who survives him. He started working for the City of Des Moines the summer of 1968. Except for the years at the Univ. of Minnesota, he spent 45 years working for the City. He was Deputy Director for the Community Development Dept. at the time of his death. He is also survived by his stepson Nick Amadeo and grandson Jackson Amadeo; brother Mike, father and mother-in law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
