She was a wife and a mother of three dying at home at the age of 60.
She was a retired school teacher having taught in the Augusta area, Hawaii and Oklahoma. She was the recipient of the Richmond County Teacher of the Year Award for 2001-2002.
She was the pianist for her church, former member and president of the Augusta Junior Women's Club and recipient of numerous awards.
