| About Me | I live in Connecticut with my husband, two children, two dogs and a cat. I have a master’s degree in Public Health, focusing on chronic disease epidemiology. Until a few years ago, I was a busy working mother and enjoyed a very successful career in a large pharmaceutical company. However, over the years I struggled with chronic pain and neurological symptoms and, eventually had to go on disability. After 12 years, I was finally diagnosed with late stage neurological Lyme disease. With treatment I am able to manage my pain and the neurological symptoms have improved, but the cognitive difficulties remain a challenge. Given my continuing battle with Lyme disease, I look at the world through different eyes. It has made me a stronger person. I consider it a blessing to have experienced my life challenges otherwise I wouldn’t be were I am today. In the past I used the analytical side of my brain; these days I use the “right” hemisphere of my brain, which is considered the more creative side. So, as the saying goes…when “life gives you lemons, make lemonade”! Over time, my creative side was unleashed and I began to express myself through the arts. Now, when time allows, I like to make jewelry, knit and pretty soon I want to learn how to spin my own yarn out of Alpaca, Llama and other types of fibers. I met several locals at the Durham fair who demonstrated spinning; it looks so soothing that I’ve got to try it. With two teenage daughters active in the arts, my life is so hectic. So, in between, high school and community plays, dance lessons, voice lessons, piano and guitar lessons, and occasional trips to NYC for auditions (girls have talent managers) I squeeze in “me” time. I take daily walks at the beach with my dogs and my dog walking friends. In addition to the daily exercise, I’ve made many friends that love their dogs and the benefits of fresh air and sunshine.
