Joan Marie Neiss, 74, a lifetime resident of Newburgh, entered into rest unexpectedly on Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus.
She was the daughter of the late Benedict and Margaret Bardin Munger. Joan was a homemaker who cared for her children, Charlene Neiss and Kevin Neiss and his wife, Christine, who survive her. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren: Lisa, William and Stephanie Smith and Matthew Coppa and Kimberly Neiss; great grandchildren, Andrew and Dylan Barone and Joan's two brothers, Christopher and Fred Munger.
Joan affectionately known as "Ma" to her family, and was known as a lover of doo op music and dancing, Joan was a dedicated NY Jets fan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc., 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rte 94), New Windsor. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Arrangemnets are under the care of Anthony V. Cracolici of the Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc.
