shannon schnell tripped and fell at the united way parade in newark, ohio in 2004 attempting to climb on to the moving float for her church pathfinder group. the tires ran over her leaving her with a collapsed lung and crushed ribs. she developed a staph infection in grant medical center and couldnt recover. she lost both legs from the knees down and 3fingers.
