A 56-year-old man was found dead in a red Corvette submerged in water near Broken Back Road in Naples, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP believes Robert Girardi of Naples was in the water for several days. Landscapers working in the area spotted the sports car. A FHP spokesperson explained that Broken Back Road has several curves and the Girardi may not of seen the trouble ahead.
"The road curved to the right the driver must not have realized that and vaulted off the embankment," FHP Lt. Paul France told NBC-2.
Girardi's roommates told NBC-2 that the last time they saw him was Friday morning when he was rushing to work. His boss says he never showed up. Girardi's supervisor says he just moved to Naples from upstate New York and doesn't have family here.
