About	Higinbotham, Samuel Lee, of Lakewood died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was 68. Sam was born February 23, 1943 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Lib and Dick Higinbotham. On June 13, 1964 he married Carole D. Thurston in Butte, Montana, who passed away in 1992. On July 11, 1998, he lovingly married Mary M. Strickland in Golden, Colorado. Sam spent his childhood years in the Gettysburg and New Oxford, Pennsylvania area with his two brothers, David and Richard (Dick); graduating from New Oxford High School in 1961. He graduated from Montana School of Mines, Butte, MT in 1966 with his masters in Mineral Dressing. He was a Metallurgical Engineer and worked on many projects in both the US and abroad. After living all over the US, he moved to Denver, CO in 1978 where he lived the majority of his life. Sam loved the Lord, computers, electronics, garage sales, woodworking, fishing, helping others and volunteering at Operation Blessing/Carpenters Cupboard. Sam and Mary enjoyed traveling to destinations like Israel (twice), Cancun, Alaska, and Russia/Norway. Sam was generous, kind, helpful and had a loving patient nature. All who met him were attracted to his gentle spirit. Sam is survived by his wife Mary M. Strickland; his brother, David H. (Joan) Higinbotham; three daughters, Diane (Scott) Burns, Castle Rock, Colorado and Suzanne J. (Tony) Czarnecki, St George, Utah and Lisa (Jeff) Giedt, Lakewood, Colorado; two stepsons, Chris(Tracy) Strickland, Littleton, Colorado, Adam (Griselda) Strickland, Morrison, Colorado and stepdaughter, Beth Strickland, Ann Arbor, Michigan; and his grandchildren Kimber, Chris, Connor, Sam, Miranda, Amanda, Nate, Lily and Ivy.
