About	John Dennis "JD" Baadte, 68, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at his residence. He was the husband of Carolyn J. (Yohe) Baadte, his wife of 47 years. Son of the late George J. and Genevieve M. (Dofflemyer) Baadte. He was born February 20, 1943, in Washington, D.C. JD retired in 1981 after 20 years of service with the U.S. Navy as a chief torpedo man in submarine service. He was a life member of the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, and the East Berlin V.F.W., and a member of the Eagles in Gettysburg, and the American Legion in Orbisonia. He was an avid drag racing fan and golfer. In addition to his wife Carolyn, JD is survived by a son, John D. Shorb, Sr. and his companion Susan McMaster of Hanover; two daughters, Michele L. Nell and her husband Lloyd of Thomasville and Rene A. Baadte of New Oxford; and four grandchildren, Dustin J. Seaton and his wife Myla of Citrus Springs, Fla., John D. Shorb, Jr. of McSherrystown, Dylan J. Baadte of New Oxford, and Sarah E. Shorb of Waynesboro.
