ROY E. CORNWELL: 1952-2021 (CLASS OF 1972)
Roy Cornwell passed away in May 2021 from cancer. Roy is survived by his wife Derhonda. He was born in Alexandria, VA in 1952 and graduated from Mt. Vernon High in 1972. He loved to sing and was a member of the choir. He was a wonderful, caring person who always brightened every life that he came in contact and made a lasting impression on people, he is sorely missed.
Jo DeVore Wood Class of 1964
Jo DeVor Wood passed away July 27, 2020 in Hurst,Texas from complications with a recent surgery. Jo is survived by her husband Manny, daughter Drady, son Manny, Jr., and grandchildren. We will miss her bigger than life itself smile, spirit and sense of humor.
Jill Vollmer Class of 1978
Jill passed away unexpectedly in May of 2012. She was survived by her husband Jacque and Daughter Sarah.

Margaret Lee Nicely: 1945-2012 (Class of 1964)
Margaret Lee Nicely Rosenberry passed away on July 12, 2012 at her home in Florida after a long illness. She is survived by her son Troy Ball Rosenberry and her brother Danny Nicely and wife, Dianne, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends who loved her dearly.

Robert J. Young: 1951-2012 (class of 1969)
Robert Young passed away September 11, 2012 after a long illness in Richmond , Va. He is survived by his wife Linda of 39 years and two children, Tara and Timothy both from Northern Virginia .
Tana J. Lee (Smith): 1950-2013 (Class of 1968)
Tana J. Lee (Smith) passed away 13 Feb. 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born 20 May 1950 in Alexandria, VA and graduated from Mount Vernon HS in 1968; among her activities at MVHS was Captain of the Drill Team. After graduation Tana enrolled in United Airlines Flight Attendant School in Chicago and was commisssioned as a Flight Attendant in 1970, a position she proudly held for more than 30 years. She is survived by her husband Craig Smith of Port Tobacco, MD, her mother Violet Lee of Alexandria, VA, and a brother Gary Lee of Sanibel, Fl. Tana was laid to rest on 18 Feb. 2013 in LaPlata, MD. She was my niece and one of my favorite people of all time; she'll be missed very much.

Class of 1978 loses one of its own-Jean Childers Hicks
To all classmates please say a prayer for the family of Jean Hicks she passed away at home Aug. 19, 2010 from a long battle with cancer. She was everyones hero, a strong person who fought a tough battle and will be missed dearly.

Alumni Support needed NOW
It is time for MVHS Alumni to increase our support our high school Alma Marta. We had an almost undefeated freshman football team this year and now our championship Varsity Basketball team is gearing up for their first home game on December 7th. Come out and support them.
