About Lawrence J. Ervin, Sr.,age 67, fondly known as “Skook”, a father who liked watching his sons play sports, a life-long resident of Moon Township, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Aspinwall Veteran’s Hospital. He was born in Sewickley, PA on June 22, 1949 to the late Harold and Josephine (Jurena) Ervin. Beloved and cherished father of Lawrence J. Ervin, Jr. (Jessica), Christopher Ervin (fiancée Lara Sorokacs) all of Moon Township and the late infant Eric Ervin; long-time boyfriend and best friend of Patricia Ackley; loved like a daughter and son Michelle (Richard) Leas; adored grandfather of Tyler Ervin and Madyson Leas; brother of Thomas Ervin of Valencia, CA, James (Frances)Ervin of Findlay Twp., Michael Ervin of Clinton, PA and the late Elnora May Thompson “Susie” (the late Harry) Ervin Thompson of McKees Rocks. Larry was a 1969 graduate of Moon Area High School where he was active in football. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam as Gunnery Sgt. He was inspector for Pittsburgh Forgings and a member of St. Margaret Mary Church. Skook loved being a father and was part of everything his sons participated in, Moon Quarterback Club, and Moon Area Hockey Association. He enjoyed talking with his many friends and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports supporter of the Steeler’s, Penguins, and the Pirates. Visitation Wednesday and Thursday 1-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. where prayers will be recited on Friday 9:30 AM followed by Mass at St. Margaret Mary Church 10AM. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors. Family welcomes flowers or donations in his name to West Hills Food Pantry or a Veteran’s Organization of your choice.
