About Carolyn (Smith) Ramsey, 80 of Moon Township, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 12, 2021. She was born in Coraopolis in 1940, the daughter of Ford K and Isabelle (Wolfe) Smith Voytko. After attending Moon High School, she graduated from Slippery Rock University with a degree in nursing. She was employed as a nurse for 28 years, most of which was spent at Ohio Valley Hospital. She was a member of Riverdale Presbyterian Church in Moon Township and volunteered at the Children’s Ministry at Grace Church in Cranberry. She was a volunteer CPR instructor and enjoyed baking, traveling, crocheting, and camping.
She was “Grandma Carol” to the Magestro-Backus family - Cathy Ramsey, Sandra Lucci, Alyssa Magestro, Vincent Lucci, Emily Lucci, Selena Magestro, Donna and Keith Backus, Dominic Fleming, Kayla Backus, Angelina Fleming, and Elizabeth Backus.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by Merle Ramsey, her beloved husband of 40 years. She was also proceeded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Janet (Russell) Smith and her stepfather, John Voytko, all of Crescent, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her son, Scott Ramsey of Moon Township: her older sister, Alice (Smith) Cessna of Glen Campbell, Pennsylvania; her niece, Debbie Ramsey of Peters Twp.; and other numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Allegheny Health in home hospice for their care and support.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Copeland’s, 981 Brodhead Rd, Moon Twp., where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11AM with Rev. Chris Dericks of Riverdale Presbyterian Church officiating.
Her family request that any memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Pittsburgh.
