Commissioned Ensign in 1965 after Officer Candidate School. Served about ten years on active duty including two tours on ships and one year in Vietnam (1971-72). Then remaining eleven years in Reserves in order to retire.

I entered active service in October 1957 and started ET school on Treasure Island San Francisco, Ca. After completing ET school was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island in Puget Sound Washington state. From there was transferred to the USS Conway DDE 507, a destroyer, out of Norfolk, Virginia where my active service ended. Great duty at all three active duty assignments although ET school was quite difficult. 62 started the class in my company and 18 graduated.
