Favorite School Memory	Whenever Tom Donigan was around, he was the highlight of my high school experience.
About Me	I graduated a year early from high school. I went to Saddleback College and conducted research of my own there. I performed studies in bacteriology and caffeine metabolism; I was published in the two volumes of the Saddleback Journal of Biology and my research was featured in the 6th and 7th annual research conference at Saddleback College. I recieved a scholarship from the Saddleback Department of Biological Science for the work and academics I performed there. I also volunteered at Saddleback Hospital, and I recieved another scholarship for my volunteer work there as well. I joined SCTA (a mistake, but I don't regret it). I also was employed as a Lab Tecnhician by the Department of Chemistry at Saddleback College. Then I transferred to UCLA after two years at Saddleback. I was accepted into the Undergraduate Research Consortium in Functional Genomics, where I performed genetic/functional analyses of certain novel genes in fruit fly larvae. In the winter, I joined a lab in evolutionary biology performing research on the genetic diversity of various coral reef species. During this time, I joined CityLab (a student organization dedicated to teaching science and biotechnology to high schools in Los Angeles), of which I am still a member. Then in spring 2009, I joined Dr. Valentine's lab researching on the consequences of oxidative stress and metal-binding deficiency of defunct superoxide dismutase I, which leads to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
