About Me	I love life and I am so happy to be where I am today! I thank God every day for the blessings that he has bestowed upon me. I love my family and look forward to each and every day. September 21, 2009 I left for the Navy in January 1994, where I began my adventure in Orlando and trained in Millington Tennessee for a year, then was stationed in Jacksonville Florida. While in Jacksonville I was deployed to Sigonella Sicily during the Bosnia- Kosovo Humanitarian effort from August 1999 to January 2000. While I was there I also was able to visit Rhoda Spain and Dali man Turkey. There were many reasons I joined the Navy, 1) to earn money for college, 2) to see the world, 3) leave NJ with a job and stability. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of duty and met a lot of great people from different areas of this great country. I thought I was patriotic before, but now my patriotism is even stronger. When I decided to get out of the Navy, I knew I was not going back to New Jersey or Pennsylvania, I enjoyed the Florida winters way too much. I have lived in Jacksonville Florida since 1995 and am really happy I made the decision I did. The summers are warm, sometimes hot, but nothing I cannot handle. The college I attended has one of the best education programs in the United Stated too. I met my husband in 2002 and we began dating in 2003. Eric and I met at the YMCA where I worked and where his best friend worked. When we met we were both getting out of really bad relationships and were not really interested in the opposite sex. Over time we began talking and slowly realized that we had a few things in common. It was a slow start, but we were okay with it. We got married on our third dating anniversary and then on our third wedding anniversary our daughter, Maura Elisabeth, was born. Maura has a big sister Angelica who is 9. I began college in 1998 at Florida Community College at Jacksonville and had to put my education on hold due to deployment. I started back up again in 2000 and graduated in 2002 with my A.A. I took some time off to get my life back on track and began again in 2004 and graduated with my B.A.E in December 2007. With the support of my husband and mother I began my Master’s degree in January 2008 and will graduate this December! Yeah!!! I plan on taking a 5 to 7 year hiatus before I begin my doctorate degree in Special Education. I worked for Girls Inc. of Jacksonville for 7 years. I began by running an afterschool program for 160+ Kindergarten- 5th grade students at an inner city school. In my fifth year I was promoted to V.P. of Programs. I oversee all of our programs, write grants, and implement curriculum, so yes I am using my degree to my advantage. I thoroughly enjoy my job of empowering our young girls to think outside the box. I want them to know that they can have untraditional jobs that women don’t usually hold, the sky’s the limit. I am now teaching middle schools students, something I never thought I would do. I love the challenge, the attitudes, and helping them be successful. I will hopefully have a big impact on each and everyone of them. I am very happy with my life, even my past.
