Favorite School Memory	I was in the Mercer School District all the way to 10th grade, when my family moved to southwestern Missouri. So my name won't appear on the lists for the class of 1982, but I've always thought of myself as a product of Mercer High School, and I remember my days there fondly. I particularly recall my experiences playing saxophone in the band under the direction of Mr. Hogue. I went on to major in music as an undergraduate, and the inspiration definitely for that came from Mercer. I later switched fields and got a doctorate in history, which I now teach at the University of Michigan.
