About Me	I grew up in NE Arkansas -- Paragould, Arkansas. I moved to Memphis for grades 9-12, and graduated from Memphis Central High School. After that, I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. My first job after college was as an associate in the buyer training program at Neiman-Marcus in Dallas. I then worked for Northwest Airlines in Dallas. Married Paul De Maagd, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, on March 5, 1960 at Bellevue Baptist Church in my hometown of Memphis. When Paul's service in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was finished, we came to Holland, Michigan, where I was a long time teacher in the Holland Public Schools, where I taught French and English. The American Association of Teachers of French awarded me a scholarship to study the French language and culture at the Faculte des Lettres in Avignon, France. Avignon is in Provence in the South of France. Subsequently, I studied French in France for two summers with the University of Wisconsin. I'm now a retired teacher, still living in Holland, Michigan, where I work as a substitute teacher, and as an innkeeper at a B and B in our neighboring resort village of Saugatuck, and I'm also the part time musician at the Saugatuck United Methodist Church. I love to play the piano, and one dream not realized was to get a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance . . . but I continue to play the piano. Paul and I have two sons: Calvin Baine De Maagd, who lives near us, and Christian Evans De Maagd, who lives in Seattle with his wife Betsy and three little boys.
