About	Stephen Ray Parkinson of Ann Arbor, formerly of Martinsburg, WV, died September 3, 2009 at the age of 67. He was born November 28, 1941 and was the son of the late Ray Parkinson and the adopted son of the late William and Virginia (Parkinson) Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn (Munchmeyer) Parkinson; daughter Laura (James) Bills of Ann Arbor; son Robert (Andrea) and grandchildren Elizabeth, Claire, and Andrew Parkinson of Richmond, VA; brothers Lynn Thompson of Martinsburg, WV and Bill (Cathy) Thompson, nieces Jennifer and Erin of Bunker Hill, WV. Steve was born in Martinsburg, WV, attended local schools and graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1959. He continued on to West Virginia University, graduated in 1964, moved to Ann Arbor, MI that same year, later earning an MBA from Eastern Michigan University. He enjoyed 35 years with Ford Motor Company as an electronics reliability engineer, retiring in 2001. During retirement he continued his life long interest in model railroading and was very active in his resident Stonebridge community association. He was a long time member of The First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, serving in many capacities. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009, from 5 to 7:30 PM at the Nie Family Funeral Home, Liberty Chapel, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at The First United Methodist Church, 120 S. State St., Ann Arbor, 48104 with Pastor Doug Paterson officiating. Burial of cremains will be at the Memorial Gardens of The First United Methodist Church which Steve was instrumental in establishing.
