During my deployment at Al Jabari Air Base Kuwait, I arrived at the base that had no Jewish Lay Leader or and support for Jewish personnel. I worked with the 332d Expeditionary Wing head chaplain and the wing commander. With their support and the help of many of my mates in the 395th Combat Rescue Squadron, we converted the abandoned base brig into a Jewish Chapel. In that Chapel, a visiting Jewish Chaplain conducted High Holy Days services. I served as Jewish lay leader during my tours in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operations Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom.
