About	Thomas A. Vollmer 59 19 Jan 1955 - 6 Apr 2014 Marion L Steele High School - Class of 1973 "AMHERST – Thomas A. Vollmer, age 59 passed away at Amherst Manor Nursing Home Sunday April 6th due to complications from multiple illnesses. He was born January 19, 1955 in Amherst, Ohio. He graduated from Marion L Steele in 1973. He worked at Nordson, Matt's Meat Market, beer driver and salesman, Hull Builders Supply and B & K Switching. He was on Amherst Fire Department as a volunteer Fireman for many years. He enjoyed cooking, boating, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycles. But his favorite hobby was a good party and making people laugh. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Lucy (Groesbeck), 1 son Cody (Karen Deerhake), Sisters Sharon Vollmer, Mert (Jim) Lewis, Judy (Tom) Wright and brother George Vollmer Jr. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George Sr in 1980 and Ella (Vargo) in 1985. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Amherst Fire Department or the Townsend Township Fire Department in Huron County, where his son Cody is a volunteer fireman. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Amherst Manor and New Life Hospice. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held Sunday, April 13th from 3-7pm at the Amherst VFW.
