"Charles G. Gormley
ELYRIA - Charles G. Gormley, 77, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home following a long illness of cancer.

He was born September 25, 1935 in Amherst and was an Elyria resident for most of his life. Mr. Gormley was employed at the former General Motors Fisher Guide for 28 years, retiring from the shipping department in 1991. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, was a 1954 Amherst High School graduate, formerly worked in the electrical department for the City of Amherst and served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. Charlie and his wife enjoyed a condo in Huron for 17 years and frequented the Huron Eagles Club. He treasured his car collection and loved boating, fishing, playing cards, going to garage sales and going to Florida to visit his friends.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sylvia J. (nee-Kaszubinski); daughter, Deborah (Robert J.) Webber of Elyria; sons, Dale (Margaret) of North Royalton, Darryl (Carolee) of Medina and David (Missy) of Avon; 10 grandchildren; brother, John T. "Jack" Gormley of Rittman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Anitha (nee-Kritzell), sisters, Beverly Anthony and Rosemarie McCarthy and brothers, Donald and Richard Gormley.

The family will receive friends Friday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Friends will also be received on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church.
