About	Sylvia Sue nee Kovach Zilch, 66 1 Nov 1945 - 8 Oct 2012 Amherst High School - Class of 1963 "Sylvia Zilch, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Elmcroft Nursing Home in Lorain following an extended illness. Sylvia was born November 1, 1945, the oldest of six children. Sylvia grew up in Amherst and attended The Ohio State University, entering the United States Army as a nurse in June of 1965. Following a two year stint in Japan, Sylvia settled in Iowa where she taught nursing, married and had two boys. She later moved to Amherst where she continued teaching at Lorain County Community College and practiced nursing. She married Ralph Zilch on November 26, 1982. Sylvia was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst where she was active in Bible Study and Growth Group. Beside working part-time at Zilch Florist, her husband's floral shop, she volunteered at Cornerstone Among Women, a North Coast pregnancy help center in Elyria, Ohio. Sylvia leaves behind her husband of thirty years, Ralph E. Zilch, Jr.; along with sons Garrod (Jennifer) Schwarck, Kilby (Stephanie) Schwarck both of Vermilion, Matt (Andrea) Zilch of Lorain; grandchildren Mackenzie, Cody, Kylie, Casey and Joshua; her siblings Michael (Sonia) Kovach of San Jose, California, Karen (David) Wright of Vinton, Ohio, Christopher (Debra) Kovach of Sylvania, Stephanie (Robert) Fama of Kansas City, Brett (Jennifer) Kovach of Amherst and Ruth Kovach of Elyria and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her death were her parents, Frank and Mary Kovach and niece, Meredith Kovach. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church at 46485 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. The Dr. Arnold Fleagle, pastor, will officiate. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Honor Guard. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Sylvia Kovach Zilch Nursing Scholarship Fund c/o Lorain County Community College; 1005 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
