Frank E. Linn, 87 years of age and a long time resident of Lorain passed away Sunday morning, May 15. 2011 following and lengthy illness.

Frank was born April 4, 1924 in Amherst where he was raised and graduated from Central High School in the class of 1943. In 1950 He moved to Lorain where he owned and operated his own produce store, " Frank's Farm Market", on the corner of Oberlin Ave. and Cooper Foster Park Rd.

He was a member of the United States Army and served during World War II in the European Theater and received the EAME Theater ribbon with four bronze stars. Frank was a member of the Vermilion AMVETS post 22, the Stonington Masonic Lodge in Amherst, the Cleveland Al Koran Schrine as well as the Cleveland Lake Erie Consistory. Frank and his late wife, Virginia, loved to travel.

Survivors include his son Jeffrey A. Linn and wife Sharon of Wakeman, Ohio, his grandchildren, Geraldine Zimmermann, Jeffrey A. Linn, and Jennifer A. Linn; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of fifty years, Virginia A. (nee Tossey) on April 3, 2005; by his son Mark D. in 1981; by his parents, Eugene E. and Mary M. (nee Lopatkovich) Linn; and by siblings, Harry Linn in 1945, Mattie Martin in 1984 and Alice Wenzel in 2005.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of Saint Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate. Miliatry Honors will be performed by the Amehrst Military Honor Guard. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
