" Neal Burton Jenne, 71 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Adult Care by Sandy in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 28, 1939 in Amherst, Ohio. Neal was a lifetime resident of Amherst.

He served in the United States Army as a map maker Cartographer with the ASA. Neal was employed at Ford Motor Corporation for thirty years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst. Neal was a gifted artist and after his retirement he opened and operated the Jenne Art Gallery at the Amherst Historical Society and trained many students in pen and ink art. He was well known for his pen renderings of local scenery, Historical and public building and residential homes around Lorain County. Neal served faithfully as an associate at the Hempel Funeral Home for many years. He enjoyed listening to classical music and had a love for birds which he displayed in many of his drawings. Neal could always be found accompanied by his faithful dogs, Katie and then Sadie.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years Judith Ann Jenne (nee: Morris); his step daughter and her husband Laura and Eric Robertson of Bakerfield, California; his grandchildren Sydney and Trevor Robertson; his brother and his wife Dale and Diana Jenne of Dublin, Ohio; his sister and her husband Barbara and Rev. George Shiltz of Elyria and his aunt Marilyn Jenne of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Foster and Ruth Jenne (nee: Schwitzke).

Friends may call Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Cleveland Avenue Cemetery, Amherst.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; 424 E. 92nd. Street, New York, New York 10128-6804. "
