About	9 Sep 1933 - 14 Apr 2011 Amherst High School Class of 1951 "AMHERST – Donna M. nee Miller Van Dyke, age 77, and a life resident of Amherst, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on April 14, 2011 after a brief illness. Donna was born in Amherst, September 9, 1933 to the late Charles A. and Lillian nee Raesler Miller. She was a 1951 graduate of Amherst High School. Following high school, Donna was employed as a secretary at Ridge Tool, Elyria, where she worked until 1959. Donna wed Tilford L. Van Dyke April 14, 1956, and they were married 55 years at her passing. Tilford and Donna raised three children. During their school years Donna was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Amherst, where she belonged to the Chi-Rho social group. In the past, Donna taught Sunday School at St. Peter's. In 1979 Donna returned to work in the insurance industry and was employed by Miller Van Dyke Insurance, Amherst; followed by the Somers Agency, Sheffield; and lastly the Vermilion Insurance Agency from where she retired January 1, 2011. Her other memberships include the Lorain County Insurance Association and the Order of the Eastern Stars. Donna loved spending time with and doing many things for her family including baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for all to partake. Most of all she enjoyed watching and playing with her grandchildren and attending their many sporting and musical events. Survivors include her husband Tilford L. Van Dyke; a daughter Terry (Albert) Myosky of Amherst; two sons; Bruce A. Van Dyke of Amherst and Todd M. (Denise) Van Dyke of Lorain; six grandchildren; her sister Marilyn Law of Findlay and sister-in-law Loretta Miller of Elyria. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brother Henry "Hank" Miller. Family will receive friends Sunday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, will officiate the funeral service in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Brownhelm Cemetery, Amherst.
