About Me	When I left high school, I attended Adams State College in Alamosa, CO on a music scholarship. I met and married my husband John, in 1989. We lived in the Springs for a few years. I worked in a medical office. In 1992, we moved to Phoenix Arizona so that John could work as the Volunteer Director for AZ Special Olympics. Our son John Tyler was born April 1994. We bought our first house. My son John, who is now 14, is mildly autistic. He is high functioning and very bright. He is very shy - that he gets from me, and very athletic - that he gets from his dad. He attends school in District 20. He is the joy of my life! I worked for 7 years as a certified pharmacy technician. John lost his job in 2001. We decided to move "home". We have been in the Springs since then. I was working as a Pharmacy Tech when I took a tumble and broke both of my legs. My employer said, "When you can stand on your feet for 8-10 hours at a shot...give us a call back". I called my Mom, in tears, knowing that I wouldn't be able to pay the rent. Mom said. "Why don't you come to work for me, answering phones?" So, every day for the first 8 (or so) weeks my Dad came, got me from home, and took me to work in my wheelchair. I started by answering the phones, then became the Marketing Director, and finally a licensed Real Estate Broker. In 2006 after having health problems and being embezzled from my Mother lost her zest for the business and retired. My husband and I bought into the company. I took over as Employing Broker of Dowda Realty, and have been running the family business since then. We have opened a second office in Aurora, CO, that is run by my next older brother Darron. I still get to see my folks nearly every day and love the flexibility of owning my own business. I am still very active in my church and teach Sunday school every other Sunday. We try to volunteer at the local hospitals and other charities as much as possible. I’m a wife, Mom, boss, daughter, sister, friend, and general all around know it all.
