Class of 1968
Army, 20+ Years

March 3, 1969, joined the U.S. Army, and served honorably for 22 years. Retired Sergeant Major (highest Enlisted rank) with an Honorable Discharge. As a Noncommissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC), I was responsible for the quality of life, training, and mentoring of several hundred soldiers. In earlier years in the military, I was Stenographer to high ranking General Officers in Virginia, Texas, and Belgium. Later on, served as NCOIC in positions in Department of Defense Intelligence, Congressional Military Actions, Resource Management, and Human Resources. Received numerous military awards for performance and professionalism. In addition to military training and education, obtained three educational degrees (graduate and undergraduate) while on Active Duty, got married (just celebrated 35 years August 27, 2008 with husband James), traveled and served overseas and Stateside. After my military retirement, I joined military affiliated organizations such as the American Legion Women’s Post #438, where I am Chaplain. I am a member of the Hoosier Women Veteran’s Committee Board of Directors, Indianapolis. As Co-Director of the Women In Networking Organization, we host annual food and clothing drives for homeless Veterans. I am also a member of the Veteran’s History Project.
