MHS 2017 Hall of Fame Gala May 5

MHS 2017 Hall of Fame Gala May 5
The Malden High School Alumni Association is urging alumni and the Malden community to submit nominations for the fourth group of graduates to be inducted into the MHS Hall of Fame.
A banquet and induction ceremonies for those to be honored as the Hall of Fame Class for 2017 will be held Friday May 5, at Anthony’s Function Hall in Malden.
Nomination forms are available on the MHSAA website and will also be posted on Malden-related social media sites.
The forms must be submitted by Friday, March 3, by mail to MHSAA, P.O. Box 47, Malden, Ma., 02148, or emailed to Joanne Iovino (’64) at jli4671@yahoo.com, or Diane Lind (’54) at dlind420.@verizon.net.
The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize MHS alumni for exceptional achievement in their chosen careers and/or for their outstanding contributions to the Malden community and beyond.
The final nominees will be chosen by a special Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
To be considered, and to help the selection committee make its decision, all applications must be complete with a brief narrative expanding on the specific qualities and achievements of the nominees.
MHS alumni are eligible to be nominated to the Hall of Fame 10 years after graduation.
This year’s inductees will be selected from the following categories: arts, business, community service, education, government, media, military, sciences, technology, or other.
If you have questions you may call Joanne at 781-321-3568 or Diane at 781-944-1368.
The Hall of Fame was founded in 2014 by the MHSAA to celebrate exceptional accomplishments of alumni and contributions to the school community by alumni and others.

Nov 14, 2010: Malden High Alumni Event - You're Invited

MHS Alumni Talent Set for Jenkins Rededication: 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, costs $25 per person, and also includes a reception.
Headlining the show on the stage of the newly renovated Jenkins Auditorium will be alumni Joey Noone and Bob Winter.
Noone, Class of 1990, is known professionally as Joey Voices, a popular singing comedian who gives impressions of dozens of celebrity singers.
Winter, Class of 1950, is the principal pianist with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Also performing will be The Robert K. Love choral group, alumni vocalists under the direction of Richard Freeman, Class of 1959, the MHS Choral Arts club headed by Todd Cole, and the MHS Band, directed by Matthew Tavares.
Alumni still have the opportunity to Name a Seat in the auditorium, improved and restored to its art deco grandeur of 1940. For $100, alumni can purchase a brass-like nameplate to be affixed permanently to the front of the back of the seat. Forms for this are also on the alumni website.
The auditorium was named after Thornton Jenkins, who was headmaster from 1915 through 1943. Many members of the Jenkins family are expected to attend the rededication, sponsored by the city of Malden and the MHS Alumni Association.
This is the second major event sponsored this fall by the young MHSAA. On Oct. 10, more than 150 alumni attended the 3rd annual Homecoming in the schools cafeteria, an affair catered by Anthonys of Malden.
Everyone had a good time, said MHSAA President George Holland. It was an excellent event. Holland said friends told him that there was a very nice feeling in the cafeteria, and that the atmosphere even seemed charged.
Committee member Ethel Haskell, 1954, said one lady told her the Homecoming gets better and better every year.
Alumni committee members had particular praise for Patty Kelly, 1980, who coordinated the event.
As chairperson for the Homecoming luncheon, I am honored to be a part of such a dedicated group of Malden High School alumni, Kelly said. She said it was wonderful to work alongside alumni of all ages and encouraged other graduates to join MHSAA as we move forward with other exciting events.
