Graduated USAF Academy. Retired as LtCol after serving 23 years as a pilot and squadron commander on active duty, AF Reserves, and AIr National Guard. I was proud to serve in many areas of the world including Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. I would gladly do it all over again. I was inspired by several of my teachers at Womack and Longview High who were proud vets; including my father.

I was drafted in Sep. 1966 and volunteered for US Army Rotarywing Aviator School in 1967. Upon completion of training at Ft. Rucker I received my wings & warrant officer rank. I served with the 281st Assault Helicopter Company (The Army's 1st Special Operations Helicopter Company) from Jan. 68-69. I received awards for my combat service in Vietnam including a Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), Air Medal with V deivce (for Valor) and 21 Air Medals for flying over 1200 hours in combat areas. I returned to Ft. Hood, TX and was Maintenance Officer in the 1st Armored Division (Old Ironsides) until I was honorably discharge in June 1970. I returned to the University of Texas (Austin) using the GI Bill to complete my bachelors degree and masters degree.
