Great growing up with him in our neighborhood and going to school from the early days of OLPH through Lindenhurst High School His brother Billy would come over and teach me the Latin prayers for being an alter boy !( I still have that Prayer book!)
Charlie and I hung out together more when we were young boys but drifted apart as we entered high school due to the different sports we played and the friends we hung out with.
The last time I saw Charlie was in the ‘80’s while I was visiting Lindenhurst to see my folks. The friendship never faded but our adult lives led us in 2 different directions. We did reconnect via Social Media years later and corresponded almost up to his passing.
He had a wonderful family and strangely I remember his dad worked for the NY Daily News if memory serves me correctly.
Charlie Lawler will always be a part of of my memories and in some way he remains a living fixture in my life. Keep smiling Lawlor !
