About	Lance Cpl. Matthew Fahey Rossell, 21, stationed with the US Marines in Jacksonville, NC was killed in a helicopter crash while on a training mission in Rougon, France, Wednesday May 3, 1989. A memorial service was held at Holy Family Church in Council Bluffs, Ia. Burial was in the naval military cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Council Bluffs and had lived in Des Moines for 18 years before joining the US Marines three years ago. He was a 1986 graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines. Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn "Lyn" of Roswell, GA; his mother, Jayne Rossell of Des Moines; his father and stepmother, Gary and Connie Rossell of Council Bluffs; a sister, Kelly Rossell of Cedar Falls; a stepsister, Amber Carmen and a stepbrother, Grant Carmen, both of Council Bluffs; and his grandparents, Warren Fahey of Wagner, OK, Alvin Rossell of Omaha and Wanda Rossell of Lincoln, NE. Lance Cpl. Rossell is buried in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola (Escambia County), Florida.
